    Bundle Description

Early Societies IN-CLASS & DIGITAL BUNDLE

Grade 4 Early Societies to 1500CE based on the 2018 Social Studies Curriculum. This is meant to supplement your own unit plan, as it is now an inquiry-based curriculum. This product had opportunities for your students to lead the inquiry process!

I approached this new curriculum using both a guided-inquiry portion, as well as independent-inquiry portion. The first part of my unit is about Medieval Times where we participate in guided inquiry. The students start brainstorming questions and can practice skills such as pulling out important information from texts. This aids in their independent researching skills, which they do with an early society of their choice (or yours!)

With the updates to the Social Studies Curriculum in 2018, Inuit & First Nation communities were included into early societies. This product does not include all of the early societies but does include a one-pager reading passage for early Inuit communities. This product does not include multiple First Nation early communities but does offer opportunities for online resources with Indigenous educators that can help lead you and your students in the right research direction.

Check out the now available FRENCH version! Les Societies Anciennes (2013 Curriculum- digital option not available currently)
