The "Habitats and Communities" activity packet is aligned with the Ontario Grade 4 Science curriculum expectations. The activities included in this activity packet have students explore what habitats and communities are and understand the impact that human activities can have on habitats and communities. Through this packet students explore various habitats, examine what habitats provide for animals and plants and understand that human activities can result in the endangerment or extinction of animals or a change in a habitat.
This packet includes readings, activities that involve technology as well as writing activities. There is a final culminating activity included in this packet where students make their own habitat diorama. This packet also includes lesson suggestions that include a minds on, core learning and consolidation activity for each of the main concepts addressed in this unit.
