Students will read a fictional short story called The Donkey and the Watchdog. Here is an excerpt from it:
"A watchdog in a village barked all night to keep thieves away from his master’s house. A donkey who observed this thought that the dog was amusing himself by barking. So the donkey brayed all night. When the day dawned, the donkey’s owner thought the poor animal must be ill, so he sent for the village doctor and explained what had happened."
