The "Grade 5: Probability” activity packet is aligned with the Ontario Mathematic expectations. The specific expectations this packet addresses for your reference are as follows:
- Determine and represent all the possible outcomes in a simple probability experiment using systematic lists and area models;
- Represent, using a common fraction, the probability that an event will occur in simple games and probability experiments;
- Pose and solve simple probability problems and solve them by conducting probability experiments and selecting appropriate methods of recording the results;
This packet is designed to be a supplementary activity packet. Feel free to add your own lessons and activities to this packet or pick and choose which activities from this packet you would like to incorporate into your unit.
Students are given plenty of practical probability experiments using paper and pencils, that they can complete using the following tools:
Coins (heads, tails);
Paper clips (for spinners);
