Download and print the pages...attach six 3 x 3 post-its to each page and run through the printer again. There are enough to create 24 pre-printed post it notes for your students to track their thoughts around characters while reading their just right books! These are great informal assesment tools! They also keep the distracted reader on task by having the purpose for reading printed right in front of them on their post -it notes....it even reminds them to include text evidence! Students can then use their best post it to extend their thoughts in a reader response journal. I have them post the best post it note on the left side of their journal and then they write on the right hand side of their response journal booklet.
