The text uses the same techniques as professional writers and reflects the Common Core changes to school assessments to provide authentic practice.
This document contains an original informational text passage plus one assessment in two different formats. Choose from the multiple-choice or written-response versions. Or, use both! It contains an original literature passage that is written at the sixth grade level using the Flesch Kincaid and Common Core readability scales. It includes the Common Core innovative testing format too.
The document also includes scoring tips to assist with scoring student responses. It provides useful information to help students improve on their written work.
A rubric is also included to provide an idea about how the written-response could be evaluated. An answer key is also included for the multiple choice questions.
