My school uses JUMP Math and I fold it into a Kathie-Nunley-style Layered Curriculum Unit. The strand I start the year with is Probability/Data Management, concentrating on the Data Management (which is in the JUMP 6.1 book). As Kathie recommends, I keep it short and more structured the first time out to get the kids used to the format. I also use it to introduce various other activities that I will offer throughout the year (such as the Co-operative Math activity "Learning Martian" from "United We Solve", and killer sudoku). I use "Level 2, 3, and 4" instead of "C", "B", and "A" because our school uses Ontario's level-based marks instead of letter grades. The file is in MSWord format, so you can change this back easily.
If you want to know about the activities listed on the sheet, feel free to contact me and I'm happy to share them. I draw on a wide variety of outside resources.
