This activity looks great when it's completed and will make your Language Board look absolutely "beautified."
Students are grouped into five and select a topic sentence from the assignment sheet. As a group they prepare a paragraph outline which states the main idea and supporting details in the shape of an umbrella, flower, hamburger, etc. They will create their shapes using bristol board and construction paper, writing down their main idea, and supporting details. Templates are provided for students to follow.
For example - if students choose to construct a hamburger from construction paper, they will write their introductory and concluding statement on the top and bottom bun, and supporting details on the meat, ketchup and lettuce.
