This product has been created based on the EngageNY Grade 6 Mathematics Curriculum Module 3 Topic A. The packet includes the lessons within Topic A, included the learning targets posted for each lesson, visuals for students to develop a concrete understanding (Flash to represent negative numbers and Green Arrow to represent positive numbers), along with larger print, additional student work space, and an end page summarizing the learning targets for students to self-assess their individual progress. In the circles provided, I ask my students to rate themselves a 1, 2 or 3 based on their level of understanding. A 1 would be intensive (I state, needing teacher support 100% of the time, a 2 is strategic (I state "on your way") and a 3 is benchmark (I state 100% independent). This is an excellent way to gather data throughout the units and have students reflect on their self-assessment scores after quizzes, assessments, etc. I print this word document as a SMART file and present the information on the SMART Board for my students.
