This is a scavenger hunt that allows students to interactively review Grade 6, Number System content regarding negative numbers, integers & rational numbers.
There are 16 problems that need to printed and posted throughout the classroom. A worksheet is included for students to use as they walk about and solve the problems. The answer they get to one question leads them to the next and it is self-checking in that when they complete the 16th and final question, that should take them back to where they started! :)
The following standards are covered:
Grade 6 Common Core Standards
6.NS.C.6a: Recognize opposite signs of numbers. e.g. -(-3) = 3
6.NS.C.6b: Understand signs of numbers in ordered pairs as indicating locations in quadrants on the coordinate plane. Recognize reflections across one or both axes.
6.NS.C.6c: Find and position integers and other rational numbers on number lines. 6.NS.C.7a: Interpret statements of inequality. e.g. -3 > -7
6.NS.C.7b: Understand absolute value of a number as its distance from 0.
6.NS.C.8: Solve real-world and mathematical problems in the coordinate plane by using absolute values to find distances between points.
The activity comes with a work page for students.
