This in a student-led inquiry project for Grade 7 History: Conflict and Challenges. The project is designed for students to work in groups, choose a topic, and create a presentation and handout to teach their classmates about that topic.
There are 6 topics that cover areas of the unit in order, such as: Types of Conflict, Rebellions in Upper and Lower Canada, and Responsible Government.
The assignment is laid out clearly for students and separated into 5 steps:
1- Choose a Topic
2- Begin Research
3- Create Presentation
4- Create Key Facts Page
5- Keep Track of your Sources
Students are given the pages of the Pearson History textbook that correspond with their topic, along with some questions and ideas to get them started in their research.
I have also included some website sources to get students started in their research, like the Canadian Encyclopedia and Historica Canada.
There is also a presentation rubric included at the end that you can photocopy and use while students are presenting.
