The interactive reading guide associated with this lesson needs to be updated. If you bought this product after 9/10/15, please don't give feedback until I make a new IRG. I will try to do this by Oct 1st and send it to anyone who downloaded this product. Please message me!! Thanks, Danielle
This is the smart board notes file for the EL lesson G7-M4A-U1-L2 and an original interactive reading guide for the article "What's Going on in your Brain?" This lesson would span 2 or 3 periods (45 minutes each) or the interactive reading guide can be given as a homework assignment. This is a difficult text for a lower performing 7th grade ELA class, so this interactive reading guide is a way for students to access a difficult text by engaging in it with a partner.
I use this with my ESL class because this article is very difficult for them without guidance. Colleagues of mine have also found success with interactive reading guides for inclusion classes and special education settings. I plan to use this even for my honors class since it is the beginning of the new module and I want them to see how to thoroughly read a non-fiction text (I will pull away this scaffold soon, but it is a good introductory reading guide for honors students).
This is to be used with expeditionary learning workbooks for Grade 7. Module 4A is Reading and Reseearch about the teenage brain with an argumentative essay. Please see my other product regarding a useful way to teach counterclaim (also called counter argument) writing.
