This unit for Grade 7 Social Studies meets the specific expectations for the Saskatchewan Social Studies curriculum. However, it is suitable for use in any Middle School Social Studies class that is studying the location of continents and other aspects of globes and mapping as well as the connection between Canada and other Pacific Rim countries of the world. It offers teaching suggestions for a project and inquiry oriented Social Studies class.
There are three units in this resource meeting the following outcomes:
Outcome DR7.1: Analyze and use various types of maps in order to situate current issues in Canada, and in a selection of Pacific Rim and northern circumpolar countries
Outcome DR7.2: Appraise the impact of human habitation on the natural environment and in a selection of Pacific Rim and northern circumpolar countries
Outcome DR7.3: Analyze the relationship between current and historical events and the physical and social environments in Canada and in a selection of Pacific Rim and northern circumpolar countries
