The Grade 7, Unit 7: Expressions and Equations
is the seventh math unit in the Grade 7 math series. This packet is aligned with the 2005 Ontario Mathematics curriculum expectations for Grade 7: Patterning and Algebra. With this packet, students will model real-life relationships involving constant rates using tables of values and graphs, as well as algebraic equations. Students also translate phrases that describe simple mathematical relationships into algebraic expressions. Students also make connections between evaluating algebraic expressions and determine the term in a pattern using the general term. The final portion of this unit has students explore and solve linear equations.
What overall expectations does this packet address?
The overall expectations that this packet addresses are:
- Model real-life linear relationships graphically, and algebraically, and solve simple algebraic equations using a variety of strategies, including inspection and guess and check.
