This is a language based history unit that combines reading, writing, and the arts to create a unit that the kids will enjoy learning about and will remember for many years. The unit is designed to be taught at one time. However it can also be easily split into the different sections that are indicated by the title pages. It will also address media, drama, writing, and reading components as well as EQAO and DRA style questions to prepare students for standardized testing. At the end of the unit is a vocabulary wall designed to help students overcome difficult or new words and concepts. Included is a debate rubric and instructions, poetry, and all possible rubrics (peer, and student evaluation as well). There are instruction sheets for every project you can send home with the students as well. This really is a complete unit designed so you can teach Confederation during language time and make use of the other time to really focus on other skills or ideas! This is the entire first section of history up to confederation.
