We all know our students could use practice listening!
The Common Core certainly believes this to be necessary. Common core standardized tests such as Smarter Balanced specifically require students to listen to spoken passages and demonstrate their ability to comprehend, interpret and apply information derived from spoken text.
Students are provided with space to take notes while they listen. They listen to a story about a young woman who struggles with the responsibility of watching her baby brother while she would rather be enjoying her lazy days of summer. Then students answer a variety of multiple choice questions about the article they listened to and write a response to an essay question.
Please note this product does not include an audio recording of the story. The teacher will need to read the text aloud to complete this assessment.
