This weekly, daily Common Core practice is an excellent way to quickly review reading strategies and expose students to Common Core in just five minutes a day. This week includes literature. Passages are written using using dialects from the 1800s to provide historically accurate historical fiction. Realistic fiction is also included. All of this is to meet the Common Core requirements of reading classic literature as well as contemporary fiction. This week features longer passages and one close reading question per day to promote deep analysis and evaluation of text.
Standards that are covered this week include:
RL.3 Character Analysis
RL.5 Literary Devices (Motif and Theme)
This is a great way for students to practice interpreting text and hone their close reading skills.
