This set of 4 scavenger hunts with lesson plans are designed for use with World Book Online (TM), but they can be used with other encyclopedias, online or print. Access to tablets or other mobile devices with a QR reader app is required to use this product.
One scavenger hunt can be used for each grade level (3rd, 4th, and 5th) or they can be combined to implement differentiated instruction. Each QR code displays the question when scanned, and the questions are the same as in the original Grades 3, 4, and 5 Encyclopedia Scavenger Hunts and Lesson Plans product.
The last scavenger hunt is a blank template where students can choose a topic and write their own questions in addition to answering those questions. Obviously, this one is NOT a QR code scavenger hunt, but it does allow more freedom to customize each student’s learning to their interests. This template is designed for 5th graders and the lesson plan is included in the 5th grade section. If you use this version of the scavenger hunt, the unit usually takes an extra day.
The lesson plans are included and include National and PA Common Core ELA Standards, PA Academic Standards, and AASL Information Literacy Standards. For librarians and library media specialists, they are ready to hand in with only date changes. For classroom instruction, you can edit the plans to take out the book exchange procedure.
