There are 45 quotes presented in this packet. These quotes are a great way to teach students about growth mindset as well, as never giving up. All quotes are presented on a full sheet, and are only in black and white. This allows you to print off multiple copies for each small group to use, or to display around the classroom.

The goal is for students to be able to identify the implied meaning of a quote, and to apply this meaning to their own lives. To help reach this point, there are four activities included in this packet.

ACTIVITY #1: QUOTE OF THE WEEK RESPONSE
With this activity, students are presented with the quote of the week at the top of the page. Students are asked to identify what the quote means and how they could apply the quote to their daily lives. Students are then asked to identify whether the quote was inspirational.

ACTIVITY #2: PLACEMAT ACTIVITY
With this activity, students are asked to get into groups of 3 or 4. Students are presented with the quote of the week slip. Students are given a few minutes to quick write about what they think the quote means. They are then asked to share their thoughts with the small group. As the small group, students are asked to write what the commonalities are in terms of what each member of the group thought the meaning of the quote was.

ACTIVITY #3: QUOTE THOUGHTS
Have students think about why this quote was recorded – because usually, it is famous or more well-known people. The quotes students are given are intended to be inspirational or motivational – so have students think about what meaning this quote holds.

ACTIVITY #4: INTERACTIVE ACTIVITY
Have students use the quote of the week to help them answer the given questions under each flap. Students are asked to identify what they think the quote is trying to tell us - or what the meaning of the quote is.

Have students then identify how the quote can be applied to their own lives. When students are finished with their writing, have them share their thoughts with the whole class. Discuss the quote and what it means. Why is the quote important to remember?
