Product Description
We write for other people to read and enjoy. Make sure others can read and understand our work by using an editing checklist. There are three editing checklists to choose from. This is a great way to differentiate tools for different level writers and promote self monitoring and independence. Have students edit their own writing before swapping with their writing partners to peer edit.

Kindergarten/lower level writers check off:

1. You can read my writing.
2. I used spaces between words.
3. I used capitals in beginning of sentences.
4. I used ending punctuation.
5. I use my best spelling.

First graders/mid-level writers check off:

1. You can read my writing.
2. I used punctuation marks,
3. I use capitals.
4. I use my best spelling.
5. I reread to see if it made sense.

Second graders/higher level writers check off:

1. You can read my writing.
2. I used punctuation marks
3. I used capitals.
4. I used my best spelling.
5. I used complete sentences.
6. I reread to see if it made sense.
