Standard heads up, the preview photos look like they're terrible, but if you actually download the file everything is in the right place.
These are just a ten boards I put together, mostly based off the PRC 100 core word list but pared down to 72 to allow it to actually fit on one page, and with a few tweaks of my own (such as adding toilet, break, and mad, which are important for toilet training and behavior regulation).
Basically it goes all the way from 8 or so vocabulary words all the way to 72, adding new words in a little bit at a time. When the student masters the first 8, you can print the next one, which has a few more words but keeps the old ones in exactly the same place to preserve motor planning. And so on all the way to 72. When you get the core words down, you can start adding in fringe.
The idea behind this is that if you use the same board with the same layout, the child doesn't have to relearn each time where all the buttons are. Kind of like the way that we would pretty much have to relearn to type if someone shifted all the keys on our keyboards, a child using a communication board is the same way. If you're interested look up motor planning and AAC, there's loads of evidence backing this! (And if you're interested in getting a communication device based around this principle, look up LAMP!)
So this way you can gradually introduce new words, without overwhelming the child to begin with, but end up with a pretty full core vocabulary, and even some fringe attached.
It's also honestly REALLY helpful for modeling, too. It's hard to model language when you yourself don't remember where the right button is!
There is another doc in the zip file full of the fringe vocabulary that you can bind to the top to flip through, to add another level for communication with your students who have core all or at least mostly down. And, finally, there's a third doc with the Spanish version of the core board!
