PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Purchase some 'Soup Mix' from the supermarket. It will have a variety of seeds and grains e.g., soy beans, barley, chick peas etc. Also access some cereals e.g., wheat, canola, maize, millet etc. Make up small containers with a mix of seeds and grains. Students work in teams of two to sort through the collection using the attachment to identify which grains are cereals and which are pulses. Once they have sorted out their collection they choose one cereal and one pulse. Place cotton wool in a shallow dish. Place the chosen grain on top. Spray with water. Label the container with which seed they think it is. Watch the grain grow. Record how many grains sprout. Where they correct in identifying the different pulses and cereals.
