Transform your classroom into "Grammar City" during your writing block and I promise your students will not want to stop editing their writing!
The following items are included in this pack (in both color and black and white versions):
- 4 Editing Posters with the acronym C.O.P.S. (capitalization, organization, punctuation, spelling).
- 2 Transition Words Posters
-Tricky Spelling Words Poster
- Mini Grammar City Law booklet for your students containing the C.O.P.S. pages, transition words pages and tricky words page.
For my students I did the following: I laminated the C.O.P.S. posters and hung them on the wall. I also copied the mini Grammar City Law Booklet for each of my students. I printed and laminated the police badges and printed several "tickets." I choose one student to be the "Sheriff" for his or her group for a particular day/assignment. During writing, it is their job to check their partner's work to make sure they did not break and Grammar City laws. If they did, they write a ticket, and their partner must go back and edit their writing before handing it in. I rotate the "Sheriff" often, so everyone gets a chance. Of course there are other ways to adapt this to your own classroom. However you incorporate it, your students will love it!
Check out other resources on my TPT page, including a Writing Resource Booklet which is a great addition to this product.
