"Grammar Made Easy" requires 10 minutes of classroom instruction and guided practice each day. This 130-page book is divided into mini-lessons that produce maximum results, regardless of students' ability levels (from slow learners to gifted, special education to limited English proficiency students).
The lessons in this grammar book teach the following skills:
* identifying parts of speech
* combining sentences to create denser, more value packed statements
* understanding the relationships of various parts of speech to one another
* reading improvement
* writing improvement
* logical thinking
Each chapter includes an explanation of the sentence pattern being studied (beginning with the simple subject-verb sentence and going up to noun clauses and nominative absolutes), a table with suggested activities (a schedule of work for the chapter), 3 guided practice exercises, and an example of diagramming. Most chapters also have 5 sentence combining activities.
This strategy has been shown to improve students' reading and writing skills by 2-4 grade equivalencies during one year of instruction. It also lays a great foundation for foreign language study.
The preview pages are from chapter one and represent the most basic lessons in the book. Chapter 5 begins the more complex work to include the sentence combining activities.
Finally, the answers are included in the workbook, and I am always available through email.
"Grammar Made Easy" worked wonders with my students, and I am certain it will do the same for yours.
