Grammar Quizzes With Answers are valuable tools for weekly or daily grammar practice. This grammar drill type of quiz will help your students learn many parts of speech that they otherwise might forget. Think Fast Grammar Quizzes are just that---ways for students to think fast about the terms and grammar words they already know or should know.
Students learn grammar through repetition. When we use grammar terms only as they come up in their textbooks or language lessons, they quickly forget those words. (“Um…I think I had prepositions before…”)
That is where the Beginning Think Fast Grammar Quiz comes through marvelously! It is a two-pronged product that will revolutionize your students’ remembrance of many parts of speech and grammar quiz by
(1) Providing a continual “Think Fast” type of quiz
(2) Teacher utilizing the extremely extensive Answer Key as a teaching tool.
Using the Quizzes Weekly or More
I personally have used these quizzes twice a week in my elementary and middle school language arts classes for twenty years. Here is how I use them:
1) Have students take at least one per week in class (great bell-ringer activities or center tasks).
2) Have students take a quiz home to complete at least once per week
This 26-page product has the two page quiz that you will use over and over again with your students followed by 24 pages of Answer Keys for each part of speech in the quiz.
Using the Answer Keys as Teaching Tools
Obviously, you can’t just pass out grammar quizzes and expect students to know 20 A preposition; 30 other prepositions; being, helping, and linking verbs in rhyme; articles in a jingle; etc. This is where the Answer Keys become outstanding teaching tools.
The Advanced Think Fast Quiz Answer Keys (over 20 pages of word/term lists!) contain all of the potential answers to the quiz in the order that the tasks are given in the quiz. (The general preposition list has over 200 prepositions listed!)
The Answer Key is in categories for ease of use by the student and by the teacher:
1) Prepositions that show position
2) Subordinators learned in rhyme
3) Article jingle
4) All pieces of the quiz are listed in the AK
Be sure you don’t discourage using the Answer Key! This is how they will learn. On the first day of introducing the Beginning Think Fast Grammar Quiz, I have my students write on the front of the Answer Key: My New Best Friend. I tell them they will use the AK over and over again until they have the terms memorized.
The repetition, along with the mnemonics, jingles, rhymes, check sentence, preposition pals, etc., will help them learn all of the elements of the Beginning Think Fast Grammar Quiz.
