I wrote this rap as a way to help my students remember some of our grammar rules. Rap includes subject/predicate, past/present/future, simple/compound sentences, purpose of a comma in relation to a compound sentence.
After I teach 3-4 grammar skills within a lecture-style class (with close notes and group activities), I sing this to my students with instrumental rap music playing in the background. Students read along, and I challenge them to learn it and perform it throughout the year for incentives. Students perform in front of the class or in the hallway. Students are also challenged to create their own poem, song, or rap based on other things we are learning in my class.
