Description

Effective, enjoyable, and easy to use, these grammar stories are so much better than another set of boring language exercises.

Students can read interesting tales about the history of sports while reviewing fundamental grammar skills.

Ten one-page sports stories address the most common errors in spelling, homophones, subject--verb agreement, apostrophe, capitalization, punctuation, comparative adjectives, irregular verbs, and irregular plurals.

An additional two Teacher Worksheets provide error analysis which will interpret either individual or class strengths and weaknesses to help focus instruction and/or group students. This makes the set perfect for the beginning of an English, writing, or ESL class, or ideal as a final review of grammar instruction.

The collection can be easily used for seat work, homework, extra credit, in learning centers, or as preparation for state or final exams.

Simple to use and grade, if desired, each one-page story includes about 20 sentences containing only one grammatical error in each sentence. Students enjoy trying to find it.

Every story includes an Answer Key, + an explanation for each correction. A Corrected Version in Paragraph Form and a Writing Prompt have also been added.

Contents comprise the most popular world-wide sports:

1. Soccer

2. Basketball

3. Cricket

4. Tennis

5. Hockey

6. Football

7. Martial Arts

8. Athletics (Track & Field)

9. Volleyball

10. Baseball

More specific information about the format is visible in the Preview.

For EXTRA fun in class:

Pair two students together, and give teams points for each correct answer. Total points over several days or weeks on a wall chart, and award small prizes or grade points when a certain level is reached. Students love the competition, and the pairs like helping each other find the errors.
