Fun! Effective! Motivating! Easy to Use!
These four Winter Olympics Grammar Stories are an interesting way to practice grammar and spelling skills with intermediate, middle, and some high school level students.
They focus on the most common errors in homophones, subject--verb agreement, apostrophe, capitalization, punctuation, spelling, and irregular verbs and plurals.
These stories are great for regular English, ESL, and Special Ed students because they improve grammar, spelling, reading and writing.
They can also be used as homework, seatwork, and/or preparation for state writing tests.
Simple to use and to grade, if desired, the stories have sentences with only one grammatical error in each sentence. Students enjoy trying to find the errors.
Every story includes an ANSWER KEY PLUS an explanation for each correction, and a short WRITING PROMPT is added for extra credit. A corrected version in paragraph form is also included.
Teachers and tutors are encouraged to correct the worksheets with their students while clarifying previously taught grammatical rules.
For EXTRA FUN in class:
Pair two students together, and give tams points for each correct answer. Use all GRAMMAR SPORTS STORIES and/or GRAMMAR TALL TALES. Chart scores on a wall board over several days or weeks. Award small prizes when a team reaches a required point total. Students love the competition, and the pairs like helping each other find the errors.
