Grammar is often the bane of an English teacher's day - students may not be interested, and the lessons may not always be thrilling to teach over and over, year after year.
This unit uses reciprocal teaching - students teaching students - to shift the way grammar is brought to life in the classroom. Reciprocal teaching is one of the highest leverage teaching tools a teacher can use to increase student comprehension and engagement. In this unit, each student signs up to become the "leader" of one topic in the list.
The first lesson is modelled by the teacher so that students can see what is expected from them. A teacher powerpoint and worksheet is included in the file attached. The powerpoint can be projected, or the slides can be printed off as handouts for the kids if you don't have a projector.
I have had an excellent response from students when I let them teach this way. Many students are quick to recognize that they learn the concepts better when they have to teach them themselves.
