This French grammar worksheet is a great way for students to practice the conjugation of regular -IR verbs. They will also receive practice identifying and correctly conjugating irregular verbs that end in -IR, such as "sortir," "partir," "dormir," and "servir."
Part one reminds students of the basics of conjugating regular -IR verbs, while part two gives students practice dropping the -IR to form correct verb stems. This anticipates and helps to alleviate problems with verbs such as "choisir," whose stem ENDS in -is and often causes confusion when adding endings that START with -is.
Next, in part three, students practice filling in the blank with the correct forms of regular -IR verbs, and choose four of the sentences to translate into English.
In part four, students fill in the blank with the correct forms of irregular verbs that happen to end in -IR - "sortir," "partir," "dormir," and "servir." They will also choose four of the sentences to translate into English.
Finally, in part five, students must be able to recognize which verbs ending in -IR are regular and which ones are irregular. They must then fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the corresponding verbs.
BONUS: This worksheet comes with an alternate version designed specifically for struggling students. While addressing the same concepts as the original version, this "Version 2" gives clues to struggling students and eliminates unnecessary variables in order to focus in on the essential elements of the lesson. It's great for INTERVENTIONS and DIFFERENTIATION!
Note: For users of the Bon Voyage level 1 textbook, this corresponds very well with Chapter 8 Structure. It also works well with Chapter 6 (regular -IR verbs) and Chapter 8 (sortir, partir, dormir) of Bien Dit level 1. In fact, it is a Word document that can easily be edited and adapted to any French textbook or curriculum.
