This French grammar worksheet is a great way for students to practice conjugating verbs that have irregular past participles in the passé composé and use "avoir" as an auxiliary/helping verb. Students will also receive practice using the negative words "ne...plus," "ne...rien," "ne...jamais," and "ne...personne."
Part one reminds students of the basics of conjugating in the passé composé past tense. Part two gives students practice forming past participles and identifying which verbs have irregular participes passés.
In part three, students fill in the blanks with the correct passé composé forms of verbs that have irregular past participles, and then they translate several past tense English sentences into French using the passé composé of verbs with irregular past participles. Finally, they will read present tense French sentences and must rewrite them in the passé composé tense.
In part four, students first read words and phrases and must write the negative opposite of those words using the negative words "ne...plus," "ne...jamais," "ne...rien," and "ne...personne." They must then rewrite affirmative sentences to express the negative opposite using those same negative expressions.
Note: For users of the Bon Voyage level 1 textbook, this corresponds very well with Chapter 11 Structure sections. It also works well with Chapter 7 (Irregular Past Participles) and Chapter 8 (Negative Expressions) of Bien Dit level 1. In fact, it is a Word document that can easily be edited and adapted to any French textbook or curriculum.
