Description
Finding Prepositional Phrases is Step One in the Simple Steps to Sentence Sense series by Charlene Tess. In my book, Simple Steps to Sentence Sense, I present eight simple steps that make it easy to analyze an English sentence if followed in order.
I'm Charlene Tess, and grammar is my specialty. I have always loved taking sentences apart and putting them back together, and I successfully taught my students using the simple steps method for over three decades.
This 11-page unit on prepositional phrases includes
- the Sentence Analysis Map,
- lesson notes,
- 20 group practice sentences,
- 20 individual practice sentences,
- writing connection pages,
- a test,
- and the answers.
This unit is Common Core Aligned.
Note: This is the PRINT version. The teacher will copy and then distribute the pages in this resource. It includes pages that are formatted to use with Easel by TpT™.
First, make copies of the SAM sheet and the lesson notes and give each student a copy. Then, they can follow along as the teacher explains the lesson notes.
Please be aware that this unit comes directly from the book. If you already own or plan to purchase the Simple Steps to Sentence Sense for High School book, this product will be a duplicate. It is important that you follow the 8 simple steps you will find in the Simple Steps to Sentence Sense for High School book in order to fully understand how to analyze English sentences. Skipping around can be confusing and the tests in the book are cumulative. For example, Step One, Finding Prepositional Phrases, is tested in the steps that follow.
I also have a version of this lesson for students to use in Google Drive. The lessons and the exercises are the same as in this resource. You will find it here.
