Grammar by the Month: January 5th Grade is a set of worksheets that target specific 5th grade Common Core language standards and while including interesting historical or seasonal themes for the month of January.
Topics include capitals, capitals for titles of works, punctuation, comma usage (for a series, a tag question, to set off a word, for direct address, and for an introductory element), interjections, prepositions, correlative conjunctions, spelling grade level appropriate words, expanding, combining, and reducing sentences, dialects, Greek/Latin root words, synonyms and antonyms, homographs and idioms.
Specifically it includes:
Table of contents with standards and topics listed
1 student cover sheet (if you want to make it into a packet)
There are enough worksheets here to do three a week (maybe Monday, Wednesday, or Friday) for the entire month.
They can be used as morning work, as a review, to reinforce new lessons, in centers, for small groups, for one on one help, or even as homework.
Topics are interesting for kids and thematic for the month of January, which makes it much more fun than your average grammar practice pages.
