As I've said for other items, I love reading quizzes. These are for each of the three sections of the novel (1-11, 12-18 and 19-30) and are intended as open-notebook quizzes. I created them before CCSS and revised them to mirror not only the Standards, but also what I was observing on the ACT and SAT. I tried to balance multiple choice (easy to grade) and open-ended (laborious but much more revealing and interesting) questions and used to tell students that if they read closely, I wanted them to get A's and those who need not read should earn no better than a failing grade (I used total points) because they were cheating their classmates out of another relevant voice in the classroom. The questions are all intended to encourage discussion as well.
