Every nine weeks (my school is on a nine week grading period), we take a “pretest” over all the topics for that nine weeks and then graph/chart our grade. This shows what they already know before I teach them.
Then, as we take our math “posttests” during the nine weeks, students graph their grade. Parents LOVE this page because they can visually see how much their child has learned within a nine weeks. The boxes at the bottom represent the tests that I give each nine weeks. Each block they fill in counts for 10, with a graph that goes all the way to the top being a perfect 100 score.
I teach fifth grade math in a Common Core state, so my tests line up with the topics needed for fifth grade mathematics under common core.
