This short exercise offers a check on student understanding of several basic graphic design concepts (symmetrical and asymmetrical balance, rhythm, proportion, dominance, unity, Rule of Thirds, and proximity). I use it as a starter activity once we have begun our discussion of graphic design to both keep students thinking about the concepts and to get a sense of how well they are grasping them. Can also be used as a closure activity. Offered in .doc format to allow you edit/add to it as needed to fit your class. Enjoy!
