Hello Reading/English Teachers!
I've made this product to help students understand their reading and monitor their comprehension of texts. I've seen so many kids have amazing oral reading skills, but cannot put in their own words what they just read! As a middle school special educator, this can be a very frustrating skill to teach our kiddos. I've used many programs and many other types of strategies, but I've found this one to be the most helpful! What is presented in this powerpoint is a combination of programs, skills, and strategies that I've taught students and have brought it down to something basic for them to learn.
This product will not only teach you how to use this strategy, but also can be good for review or initial acquisition. For initially exposing this material to your students, you will need to break it up into parts. Make sure they are able to perform each part of the graphic organizer before you move on. I've taught this to several students and have a very specific way of going about teaching it. Please follow my guidelines in the powerpoint presentation.
This powerpoint also shows some examples for using standards-base question stems. I am a Virginia educator, so most of my question stems come from the SOL. This powerpoint is very fun and appealing to your kiddos. There are videos within the text that have students practice completing the graphic organizer and answer comprehension type questions.
Please rate :-)
Note: The thumbnails look like the powerpoint is hard to see/read, but the background is very fainted and it is easily seen/read.
