Stellar evolution is a major standard in the California State Science Standards. I have found that students of all levels have a difficult time fully comprehending the idea that a star's life cycle is determine by how much nebula (dust and gas) it starts with.
As a result, I created this hand-out/overhead for my students. They can visualize which path a star will take based on the size when compared to our own sun.
Students use this picture to help them through my stellar evolution comics project which is also listed on teacherspayteachers.com
