This graphic organizer can be used over and over again with various texts!
I pair this graphic organizer with literary texts that my kiddos read. Before they read, the students are required to identify the title, author, and illustrator, predict what genre the story will be, and make a prediction about the text. After the students read the text, they complete the back side of this graphic organizer where they are required to identify the main characters and their character traits, and minor characters. They are also required to determine the setting, the author's purpose and point of view, and give rationale defending the story's genre. I also use the vocabulary section after we determine, together, what our vocabulary words will be for the story.
This could also be used as a comprehension assessment tool.
