This graphic organizer is a handy tool for student to track how a character transforms throughout a story. Students have to gather evidence of the character's traits in the beginning and at the end of the story. With the evidence collected, they can make a conclusion of the traits. In addition, they need to look for the reason(s) why the character transforms, and jot it down on the organizer.
For younger students, teachers can prepare pictures (evidence) from the story, and guide student how to describe the traits of the character.

This file also includes a linguistic frame (sentence frame) that transforms the graphic organizer into writing. The use of a linguistic frame reduces students' time in dressing up their writing. Instead, they can focus more on organizing their thoughts. This is also beneficial for students, such as ELLs and students with learning challenges, who lack academic language.
