A graphic source organizes information visually to help you understand what you read. Being able to identify and analyze graphic sources in an important skill when reading informational text!
This graphic source bundle includes:
1. NOTE TAKING GUIDE- The teacher will use the answer key to guide students in writing notes for all 8 graphic sources. Students will fill out table by writing what the graphic source is used for, and then drawing an example of it. (Day 1 notes)
2. SCAVENGER HUNT GAME- Students will work in teams and be given a set of graphic source names. The teacher will have to provide the students with an informational text to look for each graphic source. Directions to the game and cards are included. (identify graphic sources in real text)
3. TASK CARDS (REAL LIFE APPLICATION)- Each group will be given a task card. Students will read the real life scenario and agree on the best graphic source to use in order to represent their information. Students will decide what resources they need to gather the information and begin collecting data. Finally, they will create an accurate graphic source to represent the information. (1-2 day project)
4. RIDDLES- Students will read 8 "Who Am I?" riddles to figure out which graphic source each sentence is about. (quick warm up!)
