A two day unit to discover how trasnformed functions differ from the parent function.
Day 1 - students use a table of values to discover the new function table of values (I use desmos, you can use a graphing calculator or have students do the math by hand) and then plot the parent function and transformed function on the same coordinate plane. For each transformations the student fills in the blank at the bottom describing how the graphs differ visually and numerically.
Pg. 11 has a wonderful graphic organizer where the student organizes how the function changes and what we do to each function numerically.
Day 2 - we use the transformations. I do 2 examples with the class and then have a 50 different transformed functions they pick from to put in the blank table of values. They use desmos or a graphing calculator to check their answers.
