PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

51 graphing activities designed to create a positive classroom community and really get to know each student while learning Math, practicing reading, writing and improving vocabulary.
This product includes 51 cards with questions. Each question has various answer cards as subcategories and the opportunity for each child to further develop his/her answer and create a completely different one from the choices given. (please see thumbnails for visuals and download the preview for a close-up). There are blank answer cards provided as well.
All questions are created so that the teacher and all other students learn more about each student in class. Questions range from physical characteristics such as eye/hair color to family such as favorite activities, memorable trips, number of family members, to hobbies, different activities, favorite foods, seasons, books, etc. (please see thumbnails for visuals and download the preview for a close-up).

How to use:
Use a pocket chart and choose one question a day. Use as many answer subcategories as you wish and always add the subcategory “Other. Please tell me more…” thus giving your students the chance to come up with a different answer.
Students may use the blank cards provided to write their names and/or answers OR you may give them index cards or sticky notes.

What can I do with this?

Math
Students learn important mathematical concepts such as graphing and counting.

Writing & Reading
Use this daily graphing activity as writing prompt and/or topic for journaling. This could be for the students who finish their given tasks early or part of your daily tasks for the entire class. Students can further improve their writing and reading skills by developing a story on the given topic and then practice reading it to a partner or the whole class.

Differentiation
Younger students can use illustrations to answer the question and further develop their answers (give details). Older students can write full paragraphs and share their stories as part of Reading Theatre or Partner Work. The focus shifts from proper letter formation and correct spelling of one’s name, to conventions of writing, to comprehension and reading and writing fluency, all based on your students’ individual skill level.
