This thematic unit includes four graphing activities for the month of October. Thematic topics include pumpkins, Halloween costumes, and trick-or-treating.
Each activity presents data in a different way -- a picture, a story, a class vote, and a chart. Students are asked to answer questions about the total number of data points, how many in each category, and how many more or less are in one category than in another -- as per the Common Core standards.
I do one activity with my class each Friday in October!
Does this align with Common Core?
Yep! This file is aligned with the following first grade standard:
CCSS.Math.Content.1.MD.C.4 - Organize, represent, and interpret data with up to three categories; ask and answer questions about the total number of data points, how many in each category, and how many more or less are in one category than in another.
