This activity is a fun way to review the different types of graphs with upper elementary students while also giving them the opportunity to collect data and create their own graphs.
This activity includes:
-step-by-step teacher instructions
-types of graph anchor chart (bar graph, column graph, line graph, and circle graph)
-5 graph templates (bar graph, column graph, line graph, circle graph, and an optional pictograph)
-a student analysis and reflection sheet
This activity requires students to collect various types of data (20 meter dash times, student heights, student heart rates, favorite sports, and a class chosen favorite) and compile the data into a graph. Templates are provided for each graph but students will work together to determine which axis the data should go on as well as an appropriate scale for the data.
This activity takes 1-2 class periods.
