In this activity students gather data about photoperiod (hours of daylight) for a variety of cities spread across the globe. Using spreadsheet software, the data generates a striking graph that stimulates and ultimately answers questions about latitude, solstices, equinoxes, and light. Students use the graph for both interpretation and prediction, and will create a different graph by hand to check their understanding.
