I created this booklet for use in my classroom. I have also used it to help students I tutor. I teach geometry, and I noticed that I had a few students who still could not plot points correctly. I made this booklet, which includes step-by-step lessons and activities on the basics of the coordinate plane (the x and y-axis, the origin, the quadrants, ordered pairs, plotting points), and it has helped the students tremendously. When I shared this booklet with other teachers, they requested copies. The special ed teachers have found it extremely helpful as it is very easy to go through the lessons WITH students and then let the students do the practice exercises on their own.
This is really designed for students who are new to graphing, so it could be used at multiple grade levels. When you are ready to begin teaching graphing, this is a great place to start. This would also be great for homeschool teachers.
The booklet is designed with two approximately 45 minute lessons - with explanations and examples for students to fill out in the booklet, and then two practice papers that can be taken home for homework or used as an assessment. Answer keys are included.
If you enjoy this booklet, look for my next math booklet which will expand on graphing concepts. It will include finding slope and graphing lines.
