What skills are covered in this resource?
Graphing positive decimals on a number line
Marking benchmark decimals (fourths)
How will this resource be beneficial to my students?
Students will have the unique opportunity to integrate art and creativity into their math work. Your students will LOVE graphing decimals on a number line with these four exercises! All 165 of my students happily complied when I asked them to graph with pictures. No one asked "Do I HAVE to draw?" An added benefit is that you will have a fun time grading these, as their cute and creative pictures are sure to delight! (My favorite was "dog wearing a sweater." Adorable!!!)
Is this resource easy to implement? How can I use it?
YES! Just print and go! (Cut each page if you're going to use each half-page exercise separately.) Each half-page exercise has five problems instructing the students to draw a winter picture at a specified decimal point between zero and four. Students will also mark the fourths between each whole number to reinforce benchmark decimals. Use these as homework, a quick assessment, or a nice warm-up at the beginning of class!
