Where Should We Shade?
This is a group activity designed to introduce the student to graphing linear inequalities in standard form. In the activity, students work together in groups of 4 to determine where to shade the line. The line is already graphed for them and each student checks a point (each point conveniently located one in each quadrant). Once all the points are correctly checked, they work together to determine where to shade the line.
I designed this activity because my students really struggle with just checking the possible solution correctly. If yours do too, then give this activity a try. Follow up the activity with my Checking Solutions of Inequalities in Standard Form Practice
(free) for more practice with checking solutions or my Graphing Linear Inequalities in Standard Form
if they are ready to graph on their own.
4 problems, each a half sheet included in the activity as well as a key and directions. 5 pages.
