This presentation has detailed notes for students to copy down on how to graph an inequality on a number line. Students will then use those notes to complete the practice problems in the presentation. Half the problems show an inequality and students need to graph the inequality on a number line, the other half of the problems present a graph and students need to write the inequality that matches the graph. I have students use a number line in a clear pouch so they can write on it with dry erase marker.

Solve word problems leading to inequalities of the form 𝘱𝘹 + 𝘲 > 𝘳 or 𝘱𝘹 + 𝘲 < 𝘳, where 𝘱, 𝘲, and 𝘳 are specific rational numbers. Graph the solution set of the inequality and interpret it in the context of the problem. For example: As a salesperson, you are paid \$50 per week plus \$3 per sale. This week you want your pay to be at least \$100. Write an inequality for the number of sales you need to make, and describe the solutions.
